Javier Igea
Javier is a data scientist with extensive expertise in the public sector and in academia. Through his PhD in Biology (University of Barcelona) and postdoctoral research positions (at Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge), he used statistical analyses to answer key questions in ecology and evolutionary biology in collaboration with researchers from many universities and research institutions.
He has previously worked as a Senior Data Scientist in the Cabinet Office. As part of the Government Communication Service, he used advance data analytics and data science to evaluate and improve government communications and address citizens concerns around Covid-19 and the cost of living crisis.
Javier’s main focus is on generating rapid and meaningful impact for people’s lives using thorough analyses. He is also enjoys communicating his findings, both to technical and lay audiences. In his role at the Health Economics Unit, Javier is looking forward to use data science to improve the quality of care and people’s health and wellbeing.
