The Health Economics Unit, working in collaboration with the Strategy Unit, have been appointed to support the Department for Health and Social Care’s  ‘New Hospitals Programme‘.

We will be acting as expert partners to help advance the quality and consistency of demand modelling for critical national healthcare infrastructure projects.

This will include developing a common framework for demand modelling and, where helpful, standardised ‘best practice’ methodologies for the forecasting of future demand. The objective is to grow capability across the NHS and develop a national academy which will provide tools, training and education to those developing new hospital plans.

This is an exciting and important commission for the Health Economics Unit and the Strategy Unit. It is also recognition that the NHS can develop its own high-grade analytical and advisory capacity.

We are proud that our expertise has been called upon. And through this work we will further advance local and national NHS capabilities, and therefore greater transparency and self-sufficiency, in undertaking this kind of critical work.
