Simon has extensive experience within the NHS and the wider health economy, specialising in the application of statistical methods to healthcare data. With a degree in Business Mathematics from Liverpool John Moores University, he spent several years as a researcher focusing on healthcare and medicine, working with the Centre for Public Health and the Northwest Public Health Observatory. After completing postgraduate studies, he worked at Public Health England before joining the NHS, where he has collaborated with a range of clinical and non-clinical colleagues to analyse and interpret complex health datasets.
Skilled in statistical programming with R, SQL, and other analytical tools, Simon is particularly interested in developing and applying advanced statistical techniques to support research, service evaluation, and performance monitoring across diverse areas of healthcare. He is passionate about reproducible research and data visualisation techniques, ensuring that analyses are transparent, efficient, and accessible to diverse audiences. His work includes creating reproducible pipelines for routine and bespoke analyses, developing clear and interactive visualisations to communicate findings effectively, and using both publicly available and clinical datasets to generate robust insights that inform healthcare practice, service planning, and policy.
