We are the Health Economics Unit and we lead on the generation of world-class evidence through health economics and advanced analytics for the NHS and beyond. Through collaboration we enable our partners to make the best possible decisions about health and care.
About the Position
As our Lead Health Economist you will manage the work of the health economics team, providing health economics analyses on a range of exciting and high-profile projects. You will be responsible for evaluating innovations such as digital health solutions and medical technologies. You’ll be excited about:
- Developing models to assess the cost effectiveness of interventions
- Producing budget impact models;
- Supporting complex decision-making and resource allocation across the health and care system.
As the lead you’ll be working with data science, data engineering, health economics, project management, and communications colleagues, taking responsibility for the delivery of a wide range of projects and programmes within the Health Economics Unit.

Location
Since the Covid-19 pandemic the majority of the team have been temporarily working from home. We have adopted the principles of agile working to support the flexibility and work/life balance of our people, focusing on what you do rather than where you do it.
The location for this role is flexible/ agile/ home-based from anywhere in the U.K. In early 2023 we’ll be opening an office in Canary Wharf, London. To be eligible to receive the London HCLA, there is a minimum requirement of two days per week in the office.
